Rietheim birth, marriage, death records before 1742

Where would I find the records for my ancestors who lived in Rietheim prior to 1742? I am looking in particular for the Merz family. Thank you for your help.

So I should assume they were lost at some time in the past rather than being part of another volume? As I can't find Merz in the Tuttlingen records, that appears to be true.

Till 1846 Rietheim belonged to Hausen ob Verena. The church records of Hausen ob Verena started 1742/1743.

Hausen ob Verena was destroyed in 1640. But I don't find any hint what happend to Hausen ob Verena between 1640 and 1742 that could be the reason why there are no church records before 1742.
