what is the word indicating

I have noticed in the records from Schleswig-Holstein, sometimes a person is described as "holländer". These are German parish records, but I am aware that the Schleswig-Holstein area went back and forth between Germany and Holland. Why would a person have holländer as a descriptive in the German Church records?

Thank you,
Kim

An explanation of that term may be found here:

It simply indicates that special sorts of agriculture were done the "the Dutch way".

It has absolutely nothing to do with "people traveling back and forth between Germany and Holland."
Such people were called "Hollandgänger" = Germans who went for seasonal work to Holland / Netherland. However, that is something completely different!

Kind regards, Vera
