Reading help on 2 records - marriage of Joh Friedrich Schmid and Barbara Anne Marg. Eikhard and baptism of Johanna Luise Schmid

Thank you, Vera! I have been struggling with Cath Charlotte, and couldn't figure out where Pyrmont was, although I did manage to figure out the word...

K

Also really interesting that one of the sponsors/godparents is Luisa Schmidt, who must have been friends with Friedrich and Charlotte, and would become Friedr August Gustav's mother-in-law in the future!

In case you haven't already found it:
Friedrich Moritz St. and Cathrina Charlotta H. married on Aug 1, 1816 in Obernkirchen

den 1ten August
13,
Juvenis Friedrich Moriz Stohl-
mann des weiland Theophilus
Heinrich Stohlmann, Accise Con-
trolleurs in Petershagen ehe[licher]
Sohn mit
Virgine Cathrina Scharlotta Ho-
dann, des Friedrich Johann Kel-
lerbeständers allhier ehe[licher] Tochter

"Kellerbeständer" is a compound noun:
"Keller" in this special case here means: Ratskeller, rathskeller an inn in the very center of Obernkirchen at the historic town square.
"Beständer" means tenant / renter.

"Accise Controlleur" is a tax controller.

"weiland" is an ancient term / expression for: deceased / late - as you already know.

And Friedrich August Stohlmann was born on August 30, 1818 in Obernkirchen

>> see very top of the column on the far right, his fathers name is at the very bottom of the column to the left

His father is:

....Canzellist beim Ge-
richt zu Quernheim....

The place name Quernheim exists multiple times in Germany.
In this case here it is Quernheim (Kirchlengern)

One more, please (actually a double)! Here is the marriage of Johanne Louise Schmidt and Friedrich August Stohlmann. They married on 4 Jul1847, and their first son was born at the end of December.

She emigrated to the US in 1857, and is listed as a widow at that time. I can't decipher his occupation and the other words below his name. I have looked for his death record in the Bünde burial records between 1853 (when their third child was born) and 1858, after her departure, but do not see him. There are several pages in 1856 I think that have a piece of paper covering several entries on the scans, and I'm wondering if he's under there, or possibly could be in one of the other church books.

The third child, Marie Charlotte Louise, was baptized at Münster in 1853. On her birth record, it looks like his job is gerishtschreiber? I think I saw a Friedrich August Stohlmann listed as a county clerk in one of the Minden record books. I wonder if that's the same person?

One more question on this marriage above. Prior documents hadshown the father of the bridge, Joh Gottlieb Schmidt, to be a tanner (gerber),. That's not what it looks like in front of his name on this document. What does that say? THanks!

Interesting. He started out as a tanner like his father, but looks like he must have changed jobs! Thanks.

May be, may not be.

In order to tell that "for sure" you need to find more references to him, than only one (....check all births/baptisms of his children and in later times check his death, marriages of his children, deaths of this children etc. .....)

In case you're continuing on the Stohlmann part and will try to find his birth record in Pyrmont, all records prior to ca. 1830 are recorded within the church registers of Oesdorf, church district Hameln-Pyrmont

Friedrich Moritz Stohlmann is from Petershagen, Northrhine Westphalia
Cathrine Charlotte Hodann is from Bückeburg, Schaumburg-Lippe, Lower Saxony

Here i.e. a 1820 birth of a sister of Friedrich August Stohlmann

Greetings, Vera
Interesting. Cathrine Charlotte is still impossible to find! I couldn't find her in the Bückeburg births up through 1801, nor in confirmations in Bückeburg, nor in Bünde deaths. Quite a challenge!

Did you already check: Obernkirchen - the place where she got married in 1816?

Also note that Caroline Hodann from Obernkirchen, was the godmother, when Cathrine Charlotte's daughter was born/baptized in 1820.

Thanks! I'm looking in Obernkirchen now, starting with confirmations, but good idea to look there for her birth/death!
