Question about Östreich / Östrick ancestors

Hello! The ancestors of my wife came to Latvia (then Russian Empire) in 19th century from Greifswald area in Pommern. Their family name is Östreich / Östrick (with some variations). The oldest church record of this family I have found is the marriage of Christian Östreich in 1777 in Hohendorf church. He is mentioned as "Knecht" here.
3rd record from the top.
Well, speaking about their family name (Östreich / Östrick) - could it be that ancestors of this family came from Austria (Österreich)? Or this possibility is tiny or even next to nothing? I know it is speculation anyway, but still - what do you think?

Or this possibility is tiny or even next to nothing?

The name "points" to a regional origin. If that at the end of the day definitely holds true for your ancestors, needs to be proven.

Did you already make use of any of these websites in order to learn something about the origin of a family name, or how widely a name is spread in today's Germany, if there are clusters or the like.....?

Thank you for your answer and the website link! So, in theory they really could have some connection with Austria, but as I understand it will be very difficult to prove.

Well, between the 16. and the 18. Century so-called "Exulanten" (dispersed people) left / were expelled from areas like was is nowadays known as Austria which were mostly Roman Catholic, due to their Protestant religious belief.
