Crash course

Hello,
I'm new on this site and am American so I know I will have some difficulty. As an example, if I were to try to find the image for a marriage record for Johannes Dörr and Catharina Stork, March 5, 1829 in Fränkisch-Crumbach, Darmstadt how would I go about it. I did give it a try but got lost.

Much thanks!
Glenn

Also, is there a way to search surnames. In the search area everything I try to search for comes back with no results. I must be doing something wrong.

Hello again,

Ok, I did find the record so I am getting better at this (translating it is a different matter...). I am still confused though on how to use the search and what I can actually find in the search.

Hello Glenn,

You cannot search by name because the church records have not been indexed. You have to search for the entries yourself. Even where you can find the right church book cannot be explained so easily in general. It depends on historical circumstances.

Best regards

Thank you everyone. I have figured out how to find records now. Of course I cannot read any of these records though being that I don't read German. If anyone knows of anyone that helps translate these records that would be of great interest to me.

Thanks!
Glenn

Of course I'm having trouble finding where the personal messages are. I will keep searching. My e-mail is: glp0426@aol.com if that makes it easier.

Thanks!
Glenn

Hello glenn,

If you want to find something, it's easier the user interface is in English. For this go to the top of the page. In the right corner is a button to switsh between german and english.
After the log in, you can see your user name and left the butten for messages.

bye
Jens
