Böhm family - help please

Hello,
I am very sorry I do not speak, read or write German.
I am researching the Böhm family and have found some information about their lives here in Australia, but I would like to find information about their lives and families in Germany. I joined Archion with the hope that I could find these records. But I am having trouble understanding the resources and reading the old script. From my research Heinrich August Christian Böhm was born in Clausthal on 21 August 1824. He was the son of a miner called Heinrich August Böhm. He left Germany in 1847 for Australia. In 1853 he married Caroline Auguste Charlotte Wilhemine Wagner in Australia. Caroline was born in Clausthal on 18 March 1836, the daughter of Johann Gottlieb Wagener, a miner in Clausthal. Caroline and her family came to Australia in 1852. They married and lived in Adelaide, Australia and raised a family there.

I am wondering if there if someone very kind out there with a little time and lots of familiarity with the records who could look into them for me and see if they can find information about these two people and their parents? I have some information about Christian and Caroline's baptisms, but cannot make out what I am thinking is their godparents' names at all. I do not have any details about their parent's - dates/places of birth, marriage details, death details etc. I would be very grateful for any help. Melinda

Hello Melinda.

Not to be able to decipher old German script is no issue since you are welcome to ask for Reading Aid.

How to do that is described here

Did you already find the records of interest, or not so?

Thanks and welcome at Archion‘s user forum

Hello Vera, apart from the baptism records which someone has helped me with, no I haven't found the records yet. I am having trouble with finding my way around, as well as reading the old-style writing and the heading titles in German etc. I am hoping to find some help with it. I'm embarrassed as I can usually figure things out - but this has baffled me. Thank you. Melinda

Hello. Thank you so much for everyone's help. Can anyone suggest where I might find photos of Heinrich August Christian Böhm (1824-1899) and Caroline Auguste Charlotte Wilhemine Wagener/Wagner (1836-1918)? H. A. C. travelled from Germany to Australia in 1847 and Caroline in 1852. kind regards, Melinda

Most likely in Australia. At least your chance to find photos of these two people in Australia seems somewhat higher than in Germany.
I trust you're not the only one in Australia with family ties to this couple.

That said I'd suggest to use Genealogy portals like Ancestry / ancestry.com.au or the like to find other researchers who research these people. Or make use of genealogical societies / historic societies focusing on the region where this couple resided in Australia - most likely Adelaide....

Such approach worked for me respectively for members of my family -in finding various "historic family papers incl. photos- in Australia, in the U.S. and also in some European countries.
Kind regards, Vera

I just did a little "cross-check" on Ancestry Australia and noticed two -somehow more promising than others- private(!) family trees holding information about

Heinrich August Christian Bohm
Born: 1824 in Clausthal, Germany
11 attached records
14 attached sources

...quite a number of attached records and sources.

In case not already known to you.... why not try to contact the tree owner....

Good luck.
