Translation Help

I can't thank you enough for these translations. What you have shown is beyond my wildest dreams. Last year I 'self published' a book about our family history, taking us back to 1762 with the question 'is baking in the genes'. I believed that Michael and Wendel were our ancestors and indicated there was a possibility that Bernard and Martin were also family. I also said that if I could find 'records' to confirm them as our ancestors and possibly discover whether any of them had been Bakers, then I would re-publish. So I am now writing the 2nd edition of my Book. The only final question I have is that from Bernhard's Marriage record it is very clear that his father is Martin Matthess, Master Baker - that doesn't necessarily mean however that he is the same Martin who fathers the 6 children in later years, referenced in an earlier document. If I could find that, it would be fantastic. Best Regards, Karen (Matthes).
Whoops, pressed the wrong button. But thinking about it I do have the birth records for Johann Nikolaus, Anna Catharina, Johann Albrect, Anna Maria, Anna Maria and Michael Matthes, all born to Martin Matthess and Margareta Catharina in Dorzbach from 1675 onwards. If I could find the marriage records for 1 of these children it may also indicate the father is Martin, the Master Baker. Would that work? I shall start hunting!

Well the church registers before 1675 are lost. So we don't have Martins's baptism, first wedding, death of first wife, second wedding, and baptism of children from first marriage. However, Doerzbach is quite a small village, so it's unlikely that there were two bakers and members of local council called Martin Mathes of about the same age at the same time. As his (computed) birth year was 1623 you could speculate that his first wedding could have been in early 1650s. Bernhards computed birth year 1659 fits in very well.
Nevertheless you could search for other records related to that family, that provide further hints.

I quite agree! Can you suggest other records I might seek? There is a family tree online that states Martin was born in a place called Althausen - but I have found no evidence for this.
