Markt Berolzheim area

Well, since you‘re well used to Archion, you know that you‘ve to check available church registers for Markt Berolzheim (and surrounding area) yourself, right?

Did you already do that?
Which people you‘re interested in did you already find?
Where‘s the challenge you‘re facing?

Thanks for your support.

Margaretha Barbara Gauder married Georg Phiilipp Gebhard in 1818 in Markt Berolzheim (image 105 in the parish book). I have been through numerous records for that area and surrounding towns. Either I am not spelling it right or misreading it in the books. My German script is not good and I do not speak German. I can translate with Google translate and I do okay reading some. I believe Margaretha was born in 1782. Normally in wedding records it has where the bride and her father were from.

Thank you for your help. Kronheim is Gunzenhausen parish, right? They traveled so far for that period of time!

Hi Judy,

Cronheim was predominantly Roman-Catholic at that time (still is, afaik). The few Protestants were part of the Lutheran parish in Stetten near Gunzenhausen. However, you won't find a birth record for Margaretha Barbara Geuder in the Stetten church records. Her marriage record mentions the upcoming marriage being proclaimed in Degersheim - a hint that this village was the place of birth and/or residence of either the bride or the groom. There is indeed a birth record for a Margaretha Barbara Geuder in Degersheim. She was born at Rohrach (a very small village which is part of Degersheim parish) on 22nd August 1781 and baptized on the same day in Degersheim parish church (page 128/29). She was the illegitimate daughter of Johann Adam Geuder, a farmer in Sammenheim, and Anna Margaretha Gros(s) of Rohrach, daughter of farmer Johann Georg Gros.
According to Margaretha Barbara Geuder/Gebhard's death record in Markt Berolzheim (St. Maria) she died on 11th May 1853 at the age of 71y 8m 19d - this fits right in with the date of birth given above.

Heike

Many thanks for the help and I really appreciate the time you took to looked up the information. I do not know these towns but will research them. I had information from the death register and thought that it was Margaretha. I have spent two months looking for a clue and decided to see if the forum could help. Archion has helped me so much finding family but I get confused with the parishes and where to start looking. My pass end tomorrow so I will have to wait to research again. Regards, Judy
