Thank you for your help. It is hard to understand the German script and there are so many small villages. Regards, JudyHi Judy,
Cronheim was predominantly Roman-Catholic at that time (still is, afaik). The few Protestants were part of the Lutheran parish in Stetten near Gunzenhausen. However, you won't find a birth record for Margaretha Barbara Geuder in the Stetten church records. Her marriage record mentions the upcoming marriage being proclaimed in Degersheim - a hint that this village was the place of birth and/or residence of either the bride or the groom. There is indeed a birth record for a Margaretha Barbara Geuder in Degersheim. She was born at Rohrach (a very small village which is part of Degersheim parish) on 22nd August 1781 and baptized on the same day in Degersheim parish church (page 128/29). She was the illegitimate daughter of Johann Adam Geuder, a farmer in Sammenheim, and Anna Margaretha Gros(s) of Rohrach, daughter of farmer Johann Georg Gros.
According to Margaretha Barbara Geuder/Gebhard's death record in Markt Berolzheim (St. Maria) she died on 11th May 1853 at the age of 71y 8m 19d - this fits right in with the date of birth given above.
Regards
Heike
