Münchaurach

Greetings,

I have ancestors that lived in Münchaurach and Lenkershof - which is just west of Herzogenaurach near Erlangen. I know they were Lutheran and have found some of the family in the Uehlfeld church records. However, I cannot find the church records for Münchaurach and Lenkershof. Can anyone tell me which regional church records would have included these towns? I have been searching, but cannot seem to find them.

Hi Pete,

the desired church records would be those for the "Klosterkirche Münchaurach".

However, when you go to this page (listing available church books at the Bavarian archive in Nuremberg):
http://www.archiv-elkb.de/sites/www.archiv-elkb.de/files/Kirchenbücher im LAELKB_9_3_16.pdf

...and search for Münchaurach, you'll note at Münchaurach church records aren't listed and available as of yet.

In other words: those church books are still at the Münchaurach parish.

Since I have not been able to find them, I was afraid that would be the answer. I also have ancestors from Rezelsdorf and Weisendorf - which are both Dekanat Erlangen as well, and also are not available.

How did I get so lucky?

Do you happen to know if there are efforts under way to digitize these records too?

I'm afraid, but no, sorry.

The straightforward way to probably answer your question would be to contact the archive in Nuremberg and ask the archivists.

When you contact them by email please include name and place of residence/birth etc. of your ancestors, plus your home address. Without these informations they will not reply to your request!!

Münchaurach has a very good record card system for all thier Kichenbücher. Maybe it would not be so much to do to look for your achestors. Maybe ther is someone who can do the search for you there.
