Help to understand a death certificate.

Hello

I am not sure I understand the meaning of the death certificate of 30.10.1781. Is the deceased Lorenz Croneiss?
Is his father's first name mentioned?
With my thanks for your help.
Sincerely
Gilles

1. question: Yes.
2. question: No.
But you have his place of birth and are able to calculate his date of birth because his age at death is provided.

[1781]

Well thank you

it's a real pleasure to see the help and reactivity of this forum, especially when you don't understand the German language or ancient writings.

Bonne journée

This Lorentz Croneiß is not mentioned in the OFB Edenkoben (family register „Die Einwohner von Edenkoben 1667 bis 1920, version 2“ by Werner Mayer) and there seems to be no baptism in February 1713 that fits.

However, he could be the first son of Johann Lorenz Croneiß (also called Philipp Lorenz) who married Maria Catharina Stuber on 22.04.1711. Their first mentioned child is Maria Ursula, born 19.02.1715.

Or Lorenz is identical to Laurentius Croneiß, son of Hans Peter Croneiß and Anna Maria, baptized 20.02.1707.

However, Hans Peter (*1668) and Johann Lorenz (*1685) are both sons of Johannes Croneiß and Anna Magdalena (married before 1668).

There is as well a Hans Philipp Croneiß who married the widow Johannata Christina Anthoni on 23.02.1710. No children are known. But they were probably too old.

Did you find the marriage of your Lorenz Croneiß? Maybe his father is mentioned there ...

If you want me to lookup s.th. in the OFB Edenkoben, please let me know via PM. You can also order the OFB as a collection of PDFs on CD. Information see here.

Hello Eggi

Thank you very much for your reply and the documented research. I have never been able to go any further than Philipp Lorenz Croneissen because I, too, have never found his birth certificate on Edenkoben. However, I did find a record of his confirmation in 1727. http://www.archion.de/p/99bdbbb9ce/
I also have his two marriages (1741 and 1742) in Birkweiler but no mention of his parents.

I am willing to carry out the proposed research if it does not take up too much of your time. gilles-croneiss@laposte.net

Yours sincerely
Gilles

Twenty years ago, Heinz R. Wittner published a list of the inhabitants of Edenkoben in 1721. He took the data from the "Nahrungszettel", today you would say "tax bills". The age of the named persons is seldoms 100% correct, and you can't be 100% sure about the given names as well. For Croneisen (Croneiß) he mentions these names:

Lorenz Croneisen, Winzer, Tagelöhner 33 J., ∞ Maria Elisabetha 32 J., Ki: Anna
Barbara 7 J., Catharin 5 J., Hanß Peter 1 1/2 J.

Peter Croneisen, Winzer 53 J., ∞ Anna Maria 49 J., Ki: Maria Elisabetha 20 J.,
Johann Jacob 18 J., Lorenz Acker 8 J.

Peter Croneisen, Winzer 50 J., ∞ Anna Christina 54 J.

The first one, Lorenz could be our Johann Lorenz (*1685) although the name of his wife and of his children are not fitting well. In his household there is no child named Lorenz.

The second one, Peter, ist most probably Johann Peter (*1668). In his household there lived a child named Lorenz Acker (8 years old, *1713). Could it be that Peter gave home to an orphan, that lived together with his family? That orphan might have been adopted later and received the name Croneiß. Just a theory ...

The third family had no chidren in their household.

It's really a pity, the two priests Watzenborn (father and son), who were responsible for the reformed parish registers between 1690 and 1737 have not worked thoroughly. There are lots of information and even records missing. A fact that makes it really difficult to do research in Edenkoben.

I am very impressed by the results of your research and thank you for the time you have spent on it. Lorenz Acker, given his age and environment, could be an interesting possibility.

If not, below are his two marriages:

With my thanks and best regards
Gilles
