1) He was a Siedemeister. The person who was seething soap in a soap factory. Also exists in salt oder sugar production.

Theodor Kladt, Fabrikbesitzer (factory owner)
Hermann Seeler, Kaufmann (merchant)
Theodor Kelch, Zimmermeister (master carpenter)
 
He could have worked in the sugar production. There was a sugar factory in Frankfurt/Oder since 1860 (C.A.Koehlmamm & Co.). They also had soap fabrication, but later (after 1895). No salt.
 
Thank you for your time and the interesting information. I had never heard the term "soap seething."
