First Name Change Confusion

Hello.

I am looking for an opinion on a baptism record I found that I believe to be an ancestor in my tree, but the first name is slightly different. I am not sure how common mistakes and/or name changes take place during this time period, but here are the facts.

Maria Adalhait Knille married Herman Henrich Hollenback/Hallenbeck in 1763. https://www.archion.de/p/cf1e2424c1/

I found her death record 10 Jan 1785. https://www.archion.de/p/2ec007dd4c/
In the record it states she was 46 years and 6 months old. This means she should be born about July/August 1738

I found a 1738 baptism record for 25 Jul 1738 https://www.archion.de/p/395026ed63/
BUT the name is not Maria Adalhait it is Anna Adalhait.

Is it possible that Maria and Anna are the same person? The facts show that they are, but I also do not want to assume.

This is not the first time I have seen a name change slightly, but I am just not sure on this one.

Hallo,

Viel Erfolg, Tonx

Hello Tonx,

Unless, I am looking in the wrong place, the marriage registration did not list the parents names. Only had Groom, Bride, and date. It was the first permalink mentioned above. Since they are not listed I cannot tell if they match the 1738 baptism record.

Until I can confirm parents, I am not sure of any siblings.

Here is what I know for 100% certainty

Herman Henrich Helmkamp married Maria Adalahit Knille 8 Aug 1763 (Name is listed as Maria Adalhait not Anna Adalhait.

Maria Adalhait died 10 Jan 1785 (Name is listed as Maria Adalhait not Anna Adalhait)

Children
Anna Catherine Maria Hollenbeck Born 20 May 1765 to parents Herman Henrich and Maria Adahait Knille.
Maria Adalhait Hollenbeck Born 29 Jul 1771 to parents Herman Henrich and Maria Adalhait Knille.

I have found children of Herman Henrich Helmkamp both with Maria Adalhait Knille and Anna Adalhait Knille as the wife.

I guess in the end I will never know. Without more information from the Death and Marriage records that I have it is all assumption.

Here is something else I thought I would add .

Here is a death record for Anna Catharina Maria Hollenbach Born. 1765, Line 37, 30 Aug 1840
https://www.archion.de/p/47c81fcbfe/
The dad is Herman Henrich Hollenbach - Mom is Maria Adalhait Knille .

Here is a death record for Johan Friedrich Hollenbach Born 1776, Line 55, 15 Nov 1851
https://www.archion.de/p/3604e03ace/
The dad is Herman Henrich Hollenbach - Mom is Anna Adalhait Knille .

I originally thought that maybe Maria Adalhait died young and then Herman Henrich married a sister named Anna Adalhait, but Maria did not die until 1785 which was proved. When looking at the Marriage Records for Engter. There is not an Anna Adalhait Knille that marries any Hollenbach .

When I go to Engter baptism records and find Johan Friedrich's 1776 baptism record the mom is still listed as Anna Adalhait. I think these people are all related, but having a hard time figuring out the connection.
