Thank you! What do they mean with "ein Huren Kind", a child of a whore? Or simply a child born outside the marriage? Why use the word Huren?

I believe it is just a child outside marriage, a so called bastard. People in the past centuries, especially back in the 17th century in Germany used to call children born outside marriage as "Hurenkinder", although the were not real kids of a whore of course!

Why use the word Huren?

Good evening,

in the eyes of the church -at least- every

- unmarried female who had a sexual relationship with a man (married or single did not matter) was a whore,

- married female who had a sexual relationship with a man other than her husband was a whore.

That said every child born out of wedlock was the child of a whore.
