Number of Children

I have found the baptism records for 2 of my great grandmothers brothers, born 1871 and 1886. On great grandmothers baptism, 1888 it states "4 Kinde" near the end of the record. I have just found a civil record for a brother I did not know existed, born March 1884. I have not been able to find any records for another brother that I know existed, my grandmother told me about his children. Is it possible that the church did not know about the son born in 1884? Does this sound possible?
Thanks
Carmen

In order to reply to your question without having to "guess" / somehow "speculate", it would be good to provide PERMALINKS pointing to the records

-which you already found incl. the record to which your question refers.

Many thanks in advance.
Vera

At the present moment I do not have a subscription to access the records. When I subscribe again I will do create the perma link.
Thanks

OK, but you have the exact(!) data (which church book, which page/image, which record) where you found those records in question, right?

If so, please provide those.

Thanks.

Yes I did download the record as a PDF.
For Adolf Otto Boldt, born 1886, page 463 it is
Schleswig-Holstein>Landeskirchliches Archiv der Evangelisch-Lutherischen Kirche in Norddeutschland>KirchenKreis Plön-Segeberge>Leezen Taufen 1844-1911, Bild 249

For Mathilde Rosalie Boldt, born 1888, page 482 it is
Schleswig-Holstein>Landeskirchliches Archiv der Evangelisch-Lutherischen Kirche in Norddeutschland>KirchenKreis Plön-Segeberge>Leezen Taufen 1844-1911, Bild 259
Thanks

1888 - 4. Kind (child no. 4 / 4th child)

1886 - 3. Kind (child no. 3 / 3rd child)

.... and the two remaining / earlier born children are where, please?

One was illegitimate, Julius Wilhelm Klemz born in 1871, baptised February 1872
Schleswig-Holstein > State Church Archive of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany > Plön-Segeberg Church District > Sülfeld > Baptisms 1868-1882, Image 59

The son named Ludwig I could not find a baptism for.

I found Gustav Gottfried Theodor Boldt in civil registration in Hamburg in born March 9, 1884 on Ancestry. The same parent names.

Well, seems to me additional research will be required.

"Normally" when you have a married couple whose child is baptized and the priest -within the record- reports something along the lines "4th child", it is the 4th child of this couple and not(!) child #4 of the mother, or of the father.

So far you've been able to prove 3 children of the baker Karl Alexander Boldt and his wife Marie Elisabeth, neé Hennings.

In case not already known: when did this couple marry?
And what happened to Julius Wilhelm Klemz? Did he reside with his mother's later family?

I have not been able to find church record for the marriage. I did find a notation on the baptism of Marie Elisabeth Hennings. Information to confirm she was baptised I think.
Schleswig-Holstein > Landeskirchliches Archiv der Evangelisch-Lutherischen Kirche in Norddeutschland > Kirchenkreis Plön-Segeberg > Sülfeld >Taufen 1830-1850, Bild 284, page 545

Julius was part of the family. My grandmother told me about him. I don't know if he used Klemz or Boldt for his last name.
In the near future I will get a subscription again to Archion.
Thanks

The notation said, that she married 13.10.1881. But the marriage I cannot find in Sülfeld or Leezen.
Do you know where her husband Boldt was born?

I am originally from Leezen and Boldt is not an old name from Leezen.

Maybe you find the marriage in his birth parish.

I found her baptism record in the Süfeld records.
Schleswig-Holstein > Landeskirchliches Archiv der Evangelisch-Lutherischen Kirche in Norddeutschland > Kirchenkreis Plön-Segeberg > Sülfeld >Taufen 1830-1850, Bild 284
I know her father was a teacher in Stuvenborn and that is where she was living with her husband.
I could not find any of the Stuvenborn records on Archion.

There are no separate Stuvenborn parish registers. Stuvenborn records can be found in the Sülfeld parish registers. Here an older brother of her.
