Ok, I found they died that year too...but when were they baptized...if born Jul 15??the twins were born on July 15 at 7 pm
OK, that makes sense. As they usually wait one month before baptism.".. eod(em) die die Notthaufe bekommen .." they were baptized the same day, as an emergency baptism
As they usually wait one month before baptism.
It really depends on locality. I think that was more likely with Catholic Burials. I know where my grandmother was born in Ukraine, they did baptise within a few days. But in Bernburg, all the Baptism are a week but mostly month, as many that died within a week or two are not given names.Where did you learn that, please?
Are you really sure that is correct in the times preceding the 20th Century??
...knowing how high the mortality rate in early childhood was back then and also knowing that nobody could be buried on a christian cemetery (in "blessed ground") who was not baptized?
And don't forget the fees the priest earned for a baptism - for him it was beneficial in several aspects:I am really sorry, but I don't agree on multiple accounts here, since this a) isn't depending on locality and b) in the 18th (your request from 1793), the 17th .... Centuries you will hardly find a single parish in which the priest waited one month before baptizing a child.
Not to baptize a new born shortly after birth / within a few days(!), but instead "wait a little as the child may die shortly after birth - why do unnecessary work", doesn't make any sense at all.
Again, I am really sorry.
