Hello everyone,
I have traced my family line Endelmann from Bremen/Bremerhaven (late 19th to mid-20th century) back to Einbeck in the 18th century; however, I came to a dead end there with Franz Hieronymus Endelmann (also recorded as Entelman).
From the church records of Einbeck (Marien) I have compiled the following chronology:
Location: All entries originate from the parish of Einbeck-Marien in Lower Saxony.
Occupation: In the records, he is explicitly listed as a "Mousquetier" (musketeer).
Family: He was married to Catharina Dorothea (birth name Biermann or Beurmann).
Notable children: Among his children baptized in Einbeck were Frantz Diederich (1752), Georg Heinrich (1760) and Johann Georg (1767).
Death: He died in Einbeck in 1776.
I have not yet been able to find a church record of Franz and Catharina's marriage. It seems that Franz was not a native of Einbeck, but was merely stationed there – after which he settled there permanently. Does anyone have experience researching military personnel from this period? Are there any accessible documents that could provide clues about Franz Endelmann's origins? I have already searched Arcinsys, but without any significant success.
Thank you in advance for any advice, references to documents, or historical background information you can provide!
Best regards,
George
