I believe the parents are Johann Jacob Schmidt from Romhild and Johanne Marie Hartung.

Compagnie Jäger unter den hiesigen Herzoglichen
Militaire, wie auch der Buchdruckerkunst beflis-
sener, ein Sohn von deßen Ehefrau, Johanna Maria
einer gebohrnen Hartungin, von hier gebürtig, gebohrn
und den 24ten Januar getauft. Anwesender Tauf-
pathe ist gewesen 1) Mstr Carl Christian Amthor
junior, hiesiger Bürger und Tuchmacher 2) Abwe-
sende Herr Georg Friedrich Habermann Hildburghausicher Hofadvo[kat]

Thank you so much Vera for the transcription. The information gives me a slight clue with the father's sister listed in the register. I have used your recommendations to organize the material I need from the Hamburg archive but will send my request closer to March when I travel.
