I am wondering if it could be a transcription error meaning 'Polenzenberg' which is also in Kreis Niederung? If anyone has any other ideas will be grateful!

There is no transcription error. The provided transcription was Pallenozenberg.

As you found simply the spelling within the record in question obviously differs.
