Casper Schluend's occupation - is it a shoe?? (doesn't look like schulmacher) and ??

As always - many thanks

Bonnie

Hi Bonnie,

I read "Schusters und Inwohners". Schuster is another word for Schuhmacher (shoemaker). Inwohner is not an occupation, but indicates a legal status. He lived in town, but did not have the Buergerrecht (citizenship) of the municipality.

But, as always, Vera may be of more help in reading the document. :)

Susanne

Bonnie,

one general comment since you repeatedly spell the family name as

Schluend

I'm afraid, but that's wrong - instead the name need to read

Schlund - there's no umlauted "u" in this family name.

Other than that: nothing to add to Susanne's perfect explanation. :)

Vera

Vera - thanks so much! How do I designate the little mark above the u when my keyboard doesn't allow me to make that mark or I don't know how to make the keyboard do so? The mark is real obvious in the indexes. thanks Bonnie
