Thank you for this. I am struggling a little with the translation. Does it mean that Johann Michael Matthes is the son of Johann Albrecht, who himself is the son of deceased parents? And what is the reference to nobility? Regards, Karen.

Does it mean that Johann Michael Matthes is the son of Johann Albrecht, who himself is the son of deceased parents?
That's correct.

Johann Michael Matthes, citizen, inhabitant, farmer in Dörtel and ‘subject’? of the ‘Graf/Freiherr von Adelsheim’(*)
unmarried legitimate son of the deceased Johann Albrecht Mattes, former citizen, inhabitant and ‘Häcker’ in Dörzbach
(*) https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adelsheim_(Adelsgeschlecht)

And what is the reference to nobility?

Vera can probably explain this reference correctly.

Upfront: neither Mattes nor his wife, Federolf, are of any nobility.

Instead both families were -as is already totally correct explained- (tributary) subjects of the noble house / noble family Adelsheim.

Kind regards, Vera
