This looks like the birth of twin sons and their early deaths. I can't quite get the dates of birth/death, can you provide? Baby Johann Leonard and Baby Jacob?

Yes, they don't seem to have much joy with boys. Three daughters survive, but the twins die, then Johann Jacob dies shortly after birth I believe (Image 127) and the following link shows the birth of Johannes in 1752. Can you give the date of birth and is death indicated here too?

Thanks, sad that all their boys died as babies. It also means another Matthes line has ended - no closer to finding Frederick/Alfred Matthes!

I think it does! This appears to be his marriage record. Can you confirm please that this is the marriage of one Johannes Matthes (winegrower), son of Leonard Matthes? If yes, exciting and I can now look for children!

the 20th (November) were married here, after proclamation had happened on Dominica 19/20/21 after Trinitatis,
Johannes Mattes, wine grower, legitimate unmarried son of the late Leonhard Matthes, wine grower, with
Susanna Catharina, legitimate unmarried daughter of the late Christian Hattendorffer, citizen and linen weaver.

The proclamation had happened on October 21 and 28 and November 4.

This would appear to be the first child of Johannes and Susanna, born 4th August 1785? I can't make out the name of the child and it looks as though the child died soon after birth and was not baptised. Please confirm? Thanks, Karen.
