Death 1788 Obermoschel

Hello all,

I am seeking help with a translation of the death of Anna Margaretha Rothenberger (nee Zimmer) on 22 December 1788. She is my 6th great-grandmother and I have been unable to determine her parents. I hoped her death record might give some information that I can not read.

I see she is the widow of Valentin and she is age 72. Is there anything else here that may be helpful? I have their marriage from 1732, but it does not seem to name the parents:

I observed:
1. the entry just before her death is the death of their daughter with age 54 years - i.e. born 1734 and is referenced "die Mitter obiger Person"
2. she was 74 years in 1788
3. the marriage record 1732 says her birth name was Margaretha Zimmer(in)
=>
- she was born ca. 1714 (so you may have to search 1713..1715)
- the daughter was likely the first or second child
- there may be a birth record of the daughter in Niedermoschel showing relatives as witnesses

without finding the parents of Johann Valentin or Anna Margaretha

Interesting is that Johann Valentin is said to come from Ilmenau, Thüringen.

Thank you very much for replying. Yes, I also saw the death of daughter Maria Dorothea in the earlier entry.

In looking through the confirmations in Obermoschel circa 1724-1740, I find a confirmation for Anna Margaretha Zimmer in 1729 (no parent named or age stated). I also see confirmations for:
Anna Catharina Zimmer 1724
Anna Catharina Zimmer 1728
Anna Clara Zimmer 1732
Johann Jacob Zimmer 1740

But I have not been able to locate any of these Zimmer baptisms yet. I see there are many different Obermoschel books. I will continue to search.


Regarding, Valentin Rothenberger from Ilmenau - with the kind help from a member here at Archion, I have been able to learn much more information on this part of my family!
