Bockau Sources

Hello,

I've been fortunate enough to get quite far back in one of my family lines: the 1500s for my FRIEDRICH and BOEHM lines, located in Bockau, Erzgebirgskreis, Saxony. I have found in the Family Search catalogs a book of property transfers in Bockau 1560-1841. This has been interesting and a bit helpful.

When looking on My Heritage and GEDBAS, I see many other researchers who share my ancestors for this time frame. Many seem to have a lot of information regarding baptism, marriage and death dates, but I do not see their sources (other than another researcher's data).

I wonder if anyone here knows of a source for this Bockau information. I am not in a position to doubt the accuracy of their information. There are many German resources that I am not aware of. I only wondered if I can verify the information for myself.

Thank you for any insight.

Regards,

Ellen

Another source regarding Bockau/Erzgebirge which may be of use is i.e.:

BERGER, Hanns:
Verzeichnis der Haus- und Gutsbesitzer in Bockau/Erzgeb. 1560 - 1841, erschienen in der AMF-Schriftenreihe als Band 60

published in 2011.

I don't know whether it is still available and if so what the price is.
You may obtain these information by contacting the AMF (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Mitteldeutscher Familienforscher e.V.)

Their email address: buchversand@.... is provided here:

https://genwiki.genealogy.net/AMF-Buchversand

This book has not been digitized, nor is it online available due to Copyright restrictions.

Thank you Vera. I do have a number of pages of that book in connection with the BOEHM and FRIEDRICH families. I obtained the pages via email from Family Search. It is interesting to see the history.

Here is an example of what I meant by sources:

https://gedbas.genealogy.net/person/show/1268519171

I am not experienced with GEDBAS or My Heritage and I do not know how to access this link. But when I was searching on GEDBAS, I came across this user with a lot of detailed information:

https://gedbas.genealogy.net/person/show/1260788200

I do not understand this source: AF Axel Schlesinger (Aue)

In another entry:

https://gedbas.genealogy.net/person/show/1260788206

I am familiar with the Family Search catalogs, but I do not see a "Taufregister Bockau 1579-1600" when I look on Family Search. Maybe there is something I do not understand.

Perhaps I should try to email this user directly. I thought I would ask here at Archion because I have only gotten one reply from a user at GEDBAS.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Ellen

Hi Ellen,

Thomas von Ryssel is a long-standing, highly experienced researcher. Give it a try and contact him.

In order to access his online available family trees, people need to ask for it.

AF seems to mean here: Ahnenforschung

The user who uses this abbreviation and thus correctly refers to the research results of another user also seems to be interested to exchange information with other serious researchers.

Good luck - give it a try - it‘s certainly not necessary to reinvent the wheel.

Vera

Correction:

I obtained pages from "Verzeichnis der Haus- und Gutsbesitzer in Bockau/Erzgeb. 1560 - 1841" from the St. Louis County Library (not Family Search). St. Louis County Library, here in the US, has a large collection of German OFBs.

Regards,

Ellen
